Ensuring Beam Quality for ICARUS: Analyzing BNB Metrics in the Short Baseline Neutrino Program

Poster 350
Presenter: Jacob Smith (Stony Brook University (SUNY))

The Imaging Cosmic And Rare Underground Signals (ICARUS) experiment serves as the far detector for Fermilab's Short Baseline Neutrino (SBN) program and employs cutting-edge Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (LArTPC) technology. In addition to developing LArTPC technology for next-generation neutrino oscillation experiments (e.g. the U.S. flagship Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment), the ICARUS experiment will study neutrino cross-sections and oscillations. Proper characterization of the incident neutrino beams that interact with the ICARUS detector is necessary to achieve the scientific goals of the SBN program. ICARUS primarily receives neutrinos from Fermilab's Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB). I will present analysis of BNB quality metrics as measured by the beam-monitoring devices upstream of the target. Analysis of these quantities will be used to ensure good BNB quality for all spills included in ICARUS analyses.
